ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a permanent micro-thin lens implanted inside the eye between the iris and natural lens - without removing any corneal tissue. Unlike LASIK, ICL does not reshape the cornea, making it ideal for patients with thin corneas, high prescriptions (beyond −8D), or dry eyes that make them ineligible for laser correction.

ICL is ideal for patients with: high myopia (−6D to −20D), thin corneas that do not meet LASIK thresholds, strong desire for reversible vision correction, dry eye that worsens with LASIK, or aged 21 - 45. A detailed pre-ICL workup including anterior chamber depth and endothelial cell count confirms eligibility.

Yes - unlike LASIK, ICL is fully reversible. The lens can be removed or exchanged if your prescription changes significantly or if you develop any issue. In practice, ICL is rarely removed as it provides stable vision for decades.
