Ptosis is a drooping of the upper eyelid caused by weakness in the levator muscle. Mild ptosis may not affect vision, but if the lid covers the pupil it can cause amblyopia (lazy eye) in children or significant visual obstruction in adults. Surgical correction is the only effective treatment and is typically done as a day procedure under local anaesthesia.

Persistent nasolacrimal duct obstruction in adults rarely resolves spontaneously and usually requires DCR surgery to create a new drainage pathway. Dr. Nigam performs both external DCR and endoscopic (endonasal) DCR. Most patients experience immediate relief from watering and recurrent sticky discharge.

In many cases, yes. If a patient needs both ptosis correction and cataract surgery, combining the procedures in a single anaesthetic episode reduces overall recovery time. Dr. Nigam will assess whether combined surgery is appropriate based on the complexity of each condition.
