Cataract surgery cost in Delhi - honest, all-inclusive pricing

Our quoted package price covers: pre-operative biometry and IOL power calculation, the surgical procedure itself, the intraocular lens, surgeon and OT team fees, one-night monitoring if required, and follow-up visits at Day 1, Week 1, and Month 1. Consumables (eye drops, protective glasses) may be billed separately.

Most standard health insurance policies cover cataract surgery when it is considered medically necessary. However, many policies specifically exclude premium or multifocal IOL upgrades - the insurer will typically cover a monofocal lens and you pay the difference for a premium lens. Our coordinators will check your specific policy before surgery.

A standard monofocal IOL (covered by most insurance) costs approximately ₹10,000 - ₹20,000 per eye for the lens itself. Premium options - toric IOLs for astigmatism correction (₹25,000 - ₹50,000), multifocal IOLs for near + far vision (₹35,000 - ₹65,000) - are an upgrade above the insurance-covered base. The surgeon and OT fees remain the same regardless of lens choice.

The surgery itself costs the same at any stage. However, waiting for a cataract to become 'hypermature' (very dense) makes the procedure technically harder, may require more complex equipment, and carries a slightly higher complication risk. Early-stage phacoemulsification is easier, faster and safer - there is no financial benefit to delaying.

Eye Veda generally recommends sequential surgery (one eye at a time) with 1 - 2 weeks between procedures. This allows the first eye to heal and vision to stabilise before operating on the second eye, and allows IOL power to be refined based on the first eye's result. Bilateral simultaneous surgery is occasionally offered in specific circumstances.
